What got you excited about this project?
¿Qué te entusiasmó de este proyecto?
My excitement for this project stems from the fact that it is biologically education in the sense that people can actually learn an interesting thing or two about the organic life on our campus while adding to the school’s overall beauty aesthetic. Recently, our school underwent some major construction as to create a better environment for the students in terms of convenience and aesthetic, and I feel that our project compliments this while adding a necessary educational factor that seems interesting and fun rather than forceful.
Mi exito para este proyecto se deriva de saber que es biologicamente educacional en que personas pueden aprender algo nuevo sobre la vida organica en nuestra communidad y al mismo tiempo creando un aesthetico bonito en el campus. Recentemente, nuestra escuela fue bajo construccion para crear nuevas areas botanicas y estudiantil. Yo siento que nuestro proyecto suporta esto porque crea un ambiente que se siente relajado y sin esfuerzas para aprender.
Would you tell the reader, what was the incident in your life that happened that you would like to share? What are the things you should watch out when you are growing up?
Mi experencia en la feria de sciencia y mi clase de biologia advanzada fue lo que me dio pasion para el estudio de la biologia. Mi motivacion para continuar con este proyecto tiene que ver con mi pasion para aprender y enseñar. Es un metodo interestante para comprometir mas estudiantes en discussions que no son regularmente enseñado en la clase.
My experience in the science fair and my AP Biology class fueled my passion for science especially in the biological field. The motivation for continuing with this project has to do with my passion for learning and teaching others about our environment along with botanical life around campus. It’s an interesting way of getting students engaged in things not regularly discussed in class.
What is the one thing all students can do to get the same result as you? I think the best way to get through projects and work in general is to realize when to put in your best effort. The most efficient way of getting the best results stems from where you concentrate your best efforts. That is the best advice I have learned from my high school experiences; put your effort into things you are passionate about.
Who is the most influential person in your life besides your parents? The most influential person I have come to know well would probably be my school’s college advisor, Ms. Van Nguyen. She has guided me with extreme care through the college and financial aid application process. What got you excited about this project? Ms Claudio was my AP Biology teacher last year. This year, I became President of Environmental Action Club, and Ms Claudio informed me of the idea for this project. We decided to take this project on. I think that this will give Oak Grove a better image on top of all the construction that has been going on the past year.
Would you tell the reader, what was the incident in your life that happened that you would like to share? What are the things you should watch out when you are growing up? The incident in my life that I would like to share happened in my sophomore year. During my freshman year, I was shy and did not join any after school activity, aside from soccer, but I joined Latino Student Union. I would say to take that first step. Although I know its hard, it is essential to take that first step.
What is the one thing all students can do to get the same result as you? Something students should do is to not be afraid to take that first step. Even if it is uncomfortable. It is necessary to take that first step.
Who is the most influential person in your life besides your parents? Since I recently completed my college application process, I would say that my father's friend's wife, her name is Kate, is the most influential person outside of my parents. She has helped me through this whole college process and I am so grateful. Outside of a school environment, she is the first Hispanic person who has graduated from a university.
Was there a teacher that inspired you in the classroom? How? Ms Claudio has inspired me in the classroom. She was my AP Biology teacher and was the mentor of our group for Sciencepalooza science fair. What got you excited about this project? I've always cared about the environment and I've always wanted to make my school cleaner and more beautiful. Oak Grove is a campus that I am proud of and I want to make a bigger effect to a place that I go to almost everyday
Would you tell the reader, what was the incident in your life that happened that you would like to share? What are the things you should watch out when you are growing up? In middle school I was bullied quite a bit and things happened here and there. But it helped me decide who I wanted to be and who I didn't want to be and how I wanted to affect the world.
Who is the most influential person in your life besides your parents? Who is the most influential person in your life besides your parents? For me, I'd say my grandpa. He passed away when I was in middle school but as a child, I always helped him in our garden. We took care of the plants and played basketball and he also taught me many lessons that continue to apply to me today.
Was there a teacher that inspired you in the classroom? How? Mr. Issaq was my AP U.S History teacher last year and Mr. Allen who was my AP Physics teacher last year. Both of them taught me the curriculums and lessons but they showed passion in what they do. They went above and beyond in making sure that not only did the students know the lessons but had fun in it.
How have your friends reacted to your accomplishments and how has it challenged you? My friends have been extremely supportive and they continue to push me and strive for more.

Can you tell the reader, what was the incident in your life that happened that you would like to share?
Currently, all of my students have been working on preparing for our district science fair. Science fair is a very personal experience for me because I feel like students get to explore a topic of their choice, and it builds the skills that we try to teach in school like reading, writing, calculating, presenting, exploring, and planning.
What is the one thing all students can do to get the same result as you? Students can work hard and keep their minds open. A lot of things happen by chance just based on the opportunities that exist.
Who is the most influential person in your life besides your parents?
I don’t have just ONE most influential person, but many people who share their experiences with my have influenced me. Whether it’s teachers or past bosses from jobs, I like having conversations about experiences that they’ve had.
Was there a teacher that inspired you in the classroom? How?
I have several teachers who inspired me. One thing that they all have in common is that they went above and beyond a normal work day. I was excited about doing the sign project as the Environmental Action Club only did recycling in the beginning and switched to trash collecting. Now, we are expanding and coming up with new options to help the school community and environment that would be more enjoyable and exciting at the same time.
Would you tell the reader, what was the incident in your life that happened that you would like to share? What are the things you should watch out when you are growing up?
An incident in my life that I would like to share is when I joined the tennis club at Oak Grove. I was originally terrible at sports and very unathletic, but I wanted to try out for sports. Even though I was slightly reluctant, I found tennis to be very fun and it became one of my favorite hobbies. Things I should watch out when I am growing up is setting boundaries for myself and being close-minded. I realized that if I do not challenge myself, no matter how difficult, that I would never learn and discover new things that I would enjoy.
What is the one thing all students can do to get the same result as you?
One thing all students can do to get the same result as me is to be aware that our planet is dying as of right now and if we do not come together to reverse the effects of global warming, our future would be gone.
Who is the most influential person in your life besides your parents?
The most inspirational person in my life besides my parents is my tennis coach, Coach Steve. Not only has he taught me that I could achieve anything if I try hard enough but also valuable life lessons. He would lecture us on keeping up with grades, spending time with our families, and how to handle finances.
Was there a teacher that inspired you in the classroom? How?

Yo estuve muy exitoso en haciendo este proyecto con el Club de Accion Ambiental porque antes nomas limpiabamos el campus de reciclaje y basura. Ahora, estamos buscando otros métodos de ayudar nuestra comunidad escolar para crear un ambiente más relajado y exitoso.
¿Le diría al lector cuál fue el incidente en su vida que le gustaría compartir? ¿Cuáles son las cosas que debes tener en cuenta cuando seas grande?
Un evento en mi vida era cuando me uní con el Club de Tenis en Oak Grove. Yo era una persona que no realmente era bueno a los deportes y era poco atlético pero quería tratar algo nuevo. Aunque estuve un poco reacia, era una buena sorpresa cuando encontré en Tennis bien divertido. Unas cosas que tengo que vigilar son creando límites por mi mismo. Yo realizo que si no le echo ganas a las cosas, nunca podría aprender y encontrar nuevas cosas que me gustan.
¿Qué es lo único que pueden hacer todos los estudiantes para obtener el mismo resultado que usted? Una cosa que estudiantes podrán aprender de mi seria realizar que nuestra planeta se está muriendo ahorita y si no nos reunimos para revertir los efectos del cambio climático, nuestro futuro desaparecería.
¿Quién es la persona más influyente en tu vida además de tus padres?
La persona más inspiracional en mi vida es mi entrenador de Tenis, Coach Steve. El me ha enseñado que yo puedo completar lo que quiero si lo trato con todo mi esfuerzo. También me ha enseñado otras lecturas de la vida valiosas. Siempre los daba lecturas sobre los grados, el tiempo con nuestras familias, y cómo mantener nuestras financieras. ¿Hubo un maestro que te inspiró en el aula? ¿Cómo? Mi maestra de arte de dos años, Mrs. Fountaine, me ha inspirado mucho en el salon. Ella me ayudó explorar nuevas cosas y siempre se aseguraba que cada estudiante estaba bien en términos de salud mental y comida.

Me gustaría especializarme en las ciencias farmacéuticos el la universidad.para ser más específica.

What got you excited about this project? Being a member of this club for 3 years, I am most excited about how this project will create a better moral around the campus. Students can now appreciate the plants we have around campus. The beautification will promote more unity amongst the school as people can find interest in the nature around them together.
Would you tell the reader, what was the incident in your life that happened that you would like to share? What are the things you should watch out when you are growing up? There was never one particular incident, but I noticed my life mainly changed after I started getting involved in my school and took the leadership class. The people you surround yourself with is something people should look out for. Your friends and peers influence your decisions. You should surround yourself from a young age with supportive and compassionate individuals.
What is the one thing all students can do to get the same result as you? To get the same result as me I would say they have to believe that hard work actually does pay off.
Who is the most influential person in your life besides your parents? The most influential person in my life is my mentor Jennifer because she has truly inspired me. Though her life has gone through good and bad, she has been able to make the most out of her life from what society considers as nothing.
Was there a teacher that inspired you in the classroom? How? I have had many amazing teachers, but on in particular was my chemistry teacher.
